A local charity received some welcome news hours before Christmas Day.

With Christmas barely in the rearview mirror, consumers get a chance to cross the last items off their holiday wish lists.

Police are looking for a man after a Christmas evening stabbing on the city’s south side. Officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service responded to the Royal Edward Arms after 9 p.m.

A Christmas Grinch didn’t wait long to put himself on Santa’s naughty list for 2014. Thunder Bay police say a lone male armed with a knife entered the Mac’s Mart Convenience Store at 745 Simpson St. at about 1:11 a.m.

A driver was sent to hospital after a truck rolled into a ditch on the city's north side. Police, fire and paramedics were at the scene early Christmas Eve near Arundel Street, just after 10 a.m.

Christmas Day is one of the busiest days of the year for Shelter House. With the George Street shelter at capacity with its beds, executive director Patty Hajdu says they will be offering hot meals as usual Christmas Eve and Christmas Day at 2 p.m.

The cats at the Thunder Bay Animal Services shelter were the recipients of some Christmas Cheer last week. Students from Sir Winston Churchill Elementary and from Agnew H. Johnston Public School donated boxes to the felines waiting for adoption.

City police have finished their investigation into a November auto-pedestrian collision. Officials with the Thunder Bay Police Service say the collision took place on Robertson Street on Nov. 3.

City police have charged the bus driver involved in a collision with a pedestrian.

It appears the gas crunch that hit this city and much of the region late last week has eased, at least for now. Gas suppliers report that transportation difficulties that resulted in supply problems last week have been addressed .
