Letters to the Editor

LETTER: Term limits in wards

To the editor: The issue of the ward versus at large-system is a great example of how everyone who has an issue is correct, yet no one has the correct answer. Ken Boschoff was correct on this one, so is Mayor Keith Hobbs.

OPINION: Hockey's TV future

As long as I can remember, hockey has been promoted as a vital part of the Canadian national heritage.

EDITORIAL: Youth centre good fit for Prosvita

Residents of a north-side neighbourhood aren’t exactly welcoming the idea of a youth centre taking over the space once occupied by the Ukrainian Prosvita. One has to wonder what’s behind their opposition to the $10.

LETTER: Lice a problem at some schools

to the editor: Why do children not get sent home when they are infested with lice? It is a growing concern now for teachers, early childhood educators, SSPs, staff and the families they live with.

LETTER: Liberals killing Ring of Fire

To the editor: Prior to the last provincial election, a mining consultant I spoke with described Ontario as the worst jurisdiction in Canada to do mining business. The potential of this project was generational in terms of investment and jobs.

LETTER: Does NAPS have authority to declare gun amnesty

To the editor: Could someone explain how the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service can assume the powers of the Governor In Council and declare an amnesty? Apparently the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service has more power than the Parliament of Canada and the Gove

LETTER: Stop paving our trails

To the editor: Every day I hike all of the trails in Centennial Park and the ones north of the highway (blue, red and yellow) up to the Cascades. I also have been hiking to the Bluffs and on to Boulevard in the past.

LETTER: Operation Legacy

To the editor:? I belong to Operation Legacy, a group of members of The War Amps Child Amputee (CHAMP) Program dedicated to preserving Canada’s military heritage and teaching other young people how to carry on the remembrance message.

LETTER: Water rates too high

To the editor: Just in case you are not aware, allow me to explain As we may or may not already know, the city water rates are increasing and that the property tax that a business person pays on his building here in the city limits is exactly 2.

EDITORIAL: Ford fallout offers perspective

Given the mess Rob Ford and company have made in Toronto, Thunder?Bay voters should be thankful for what we’ve got.
