It’s a make-or-break weekend for the Lakehead Thunderwolves men’s hockey team.

For the third time this season former Lakehead Thunderwolves goaltender Chris Whitley has been named the Central Hockey League player of the week. Whitley, a rookie with the Allen Americans, won three times in three starts, posting a 1.

The OUA’s best team proved their might, Sunday afternoon, as the Lakehead Thunderwolves women’s volleyball team lost 3-0 to the McMaster Marauders at Burridge Gym in Hamilton, Ontario. Set scores were 25-13, 25-16 and 25-21.

Dan Speer scored a pair of third-period goals on Sunday and Kyle Moir stopped all 26 shots he faced as the Lakehead Thunderwolves won their second straight road contest, defeating division rival Laurier 4-0.

After losing on Friday night for just the third time this season, the Fort William North Stars rebounded nicely on Saturday, blanking the Sioux Lookout Flyers 5-0.

It’s not often a team goes the equivalent of an entire quarter of basketball without scoring and winds up winning the game. Rarer still is a 31-point margin of victory.
