Letters to the Editor

Editorial: Santa's list has grown

Santa’s been making his list and checked it two or three times, and it looks like he will indeed pay a visit to some of Thunder?Bay’s more visible residents on Saturday night.

Letter: Time to ensure store clerks safety

To the editor, I frequent this store (Mac’s Convenience store on Arthur and Edward Streets) routinely and find the staff very agreeable and welcoming.

Creating change

There is something exciting happening in an abandoned building on High Street. The former Hillcrest High School closed its doors in 2009 but those hallowed halls are still vibrant and alive with activity.

Letter: Unsafe driver

To the editor: In all my years of being deeply involved in safe, defensive driving, I noticed each individual assumes that they are the best and everyone else is a poor driver.

Editorial: City emergency plan needs work

It appears the city’s emergency plan needs a little tinkering. Last Friday, with a bomb scare threatening workers at Thunder Bay’s Bombardier plant, city officials yanked transit buses off the road.

Letter: Transit shutdown the wrong move

To the editor, The City of Thunder Bay shut down transit following an emergency at the Bombardier plant. How ridiculous is this decision? Sending the employees home would be the intelligent thing to do.

Christmas getaway

Just like many other Canadians, I sometimes feel like getting away at Christmastime. By the time December rolls around I’ve had enough of global conflict, politics and the numerous other hassles that bum me out and harsh my Christmas buzz.

Letter: Design flaws

To the editor: In regards to the news from city hall as reported on Nov. 29, 2011, by tbnewswatch.

Editorial: Rink study must go on

The federal government has jammed a very big fly into Thunder?Bay’s event centre ointment. Late last week Ottawa informed city officials its $20-million application for P3 infrastructure funding had been denied.

Frenzied Friday Opinion

In 1869 there was a financial crisis in the U.S. caused by speculation and panic on the New York Gold Exchange. It was called Black Friday and is one of the earliest recorded uses of this term.
